Unfortunately I've either lost or thrown out the remote control and a full house search has failed to find it. There is a manual on button on the system (which is tricky to find in itself) but no way to switch from cool to heat or change the temperature etc on the actual system. We have a Fujitsu air con at work so I brought the remote home to test, but no luck. I've also just purchsed a 'one for all' universal air con remote, but none of the codes suggested for Fujitsu fire up the system. The manual on button on the system works, so it's definitely only a remote issue.

Can anyone provide any suggestions or a different type of universal remote they know of that may work? It's surprising a universal remote doesn't work.

Fujitsu's are so common every universal remote works, even if they are 30 year old models. That model sometimes has IR receiver sensor failures sometimes though. At least ½ the time the remote doesn't work it's a dead sharp IR receiver (unless ½ dead batteries or someone dropped the remote or moved the 4 channel dip switch).

It's one of the most common and dead easy electronics repair jobs that I came across a fair bit that got me first interested on component/solder repair or A/C systems. So that may be why the original remote went walk about and the universal doesn't work, a faulty receiver.
